Solf was merged with Korsholm the 1.st January 1973.The villages Munsmo, Rimal and Solf are the parts that currently form Solf, since the Sundom villages were incorporated with Vasa. Solf was previously a farming community. Today there are a number of large companies and many small entrepreneurs in the village offering jobs to residents. The village is highly ranked on the list of taxed income and wealth in Korsholm. Solf is a growing village close to Vasa and the other parts of Korsholm, which means that many choose to stay in Solf and commute to their jobs. With Munsmo and Rimal included Solf had by the end of 2013 a population of 2016, evenly divided between the sexes, 1012 women and 1004 men. Many families have chosen to live in Solf. 23% of the village’s population ie 457 persons in 2013 were under 15. 14% of residents in Solf were 15-30 years old. 29% was in the ages 30 to 49. 16% in the ages 50 – 64 and 18% were over 65 years. If Solf would today be an independent municipality, the municipality would have been officially bilingual since 14% of Solf population has Finnish as their mother tongue. 84% of the population were Swedish-speaking and 2% of the population in Solf had another mother tongue.
